The CAC Registry is all about bringing collectors together to share their collections and compete amongst friends. At its heart, the CAC Registry (or the "Registry") is a basic inventory management platform for collectors of coins, primarily certified coins, to manage their Collection. You can track your CAC-graded and stickered coins along with raw coins and those certified by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and Numismatic Guarantee Corporation (NGC); please note the Registry is not affiliated with or endorsed by PCGS or NGC. However, the highest use of the platform is to add your certified Collection items into competitive registry Sets. And because we allow you to track not only CAC coins but also those certified by PCGS and NGC, we also allow you to use those coins in our Sets. See where your Collection ranks among fellow collectors. Fill empty slots to upgrade your Sets and move up the Leaderboards!
Below are the two ways to get involved:
CAC Only sets - Our CAC Only sets accept coins graded or stickered by CAC. Participating in these sets will have you competing amongst some of the top collectors in the country and around the world. Even though these sets only include CAC coins, the scoring of each item is still guided by the details outlined below in the Item and Set Scoring paragraph.
Universal sets - Our Universal sets are highly inclusive, allowing certified coins from CAC, PCGS, and NGC. Add your Collection items to compete against collectors assembling similar sets. Coins certified by CAC hold a higher weight than non-CAC graded coins. See the Item and Set Scoring paragraph below for more details on how each coin's grade and authentication affect its scoring.

Most sets within the CAC Registry fall into the below categories. The world of numismatics is vast, so this arrangement is intended to make the composition/definition of a set predictable based just on its name. However, because of the infinite possibilities when it comes to creating sets, not all of our sets will fall into one of these categories. Generally speaking, the set categories listed below are in ascending order when considering both their size and cost to build. Below is a brief description of set types within the context of the Registry.
Date Set - A Date set is a set that ignores mint marks, requiring only a single example of each date required by the set. We have decided to not apply weighting to our Date sets, so all coins are created equal in this set type. We believe this will keep the sets competitive, regardless of your budget.
Traditional Set - A Traditional set is more comprehensive than a Date set in that it requires all mint marks for each date called for by the set; however, Traditional set definitions do not, broadly speaking, require varieties. Other registries may refer to this type of set as a Basic set.
Major Variety Set - As the name suggests, Major Variety sets require all the items from a Traditional set and also requires major varieties, such as Redbook varieties.
Complete Variety Set - A Complete set is just that, requiring all examples of the items, including all know varieties, required by that set.
We believe our CAC graded and stickered coins carry more value than the other coins allowed in our sets, so below sets forth adjustments for scoring purposes applied to a coin's assigned grade. Please note that these adjustments are additive, so multiple adjustments may apply to the same coin within the context of a set.
Adjustment Type | Adjustment |
---|---|
Registry Value (RV) (CAC-graded coins only) | -0.50 |
Plus grade | +0.50 |
Green CAC sticker | see table below |
CAC-graded (CACG) coin | see table below |
Gold CAC sticker | see table below |
Below outlines the adjustments for CAC coins, both graded and stickered. Generally speaking: CACG coins will be adjusted up to the next numeric grade on the Sheldon scale, green stickered coins will be adjusted to 0.25 points less than a CACG coin of the same grade, and gold stickered coins will score the same as a green stickered coin of one grade higher.
Grade on Holder | Adjusted Base | ||
---|---|---|---|
CACG | Green Sticker | Gold Sticker | |
70 | 71 | 70.75 | 71.75 |
69 | 70 | 69.75 | 70.75 |

Below outlines several examples of the application of the above Item Scoring.
Example | Grade on Holder | Item Score in Registry | Explanation |
---|---|---|---|
CACG coin, details grade* | UNC Details, RV of 50 | 50.50 | +1.00 for CACG; -0.50 for RV |
PCGS or NGC coin | 65 | 65.00 | No adjustment |
PCGS or NGC coin with plus grade | 65+ | 65.50 | +0.50 plus adjustment |
PCGS or NGC coin with green CAC sticker | 65 | 65.75 | +0.75 for green CAC sticker |
PCGS or NGC coin with plus grade & green CAC sticker | 65+ | 66.25 | +0.75 for green CAC sticker; +0.50 plus adjustment |
CACG coin | 65 | 66.00 | +1.00 for CACG |
CACG coin with plus grade | 65+ | 66.50 | +1.00 for CACG; +0.50 plus adjustment |
PCGS or NGC coin with gold CAC sticker** | 65 | 66.75 | +1.75 for gold CAC sticker |
PCGS or NGC coin with plus grade and gold CAC sticker | 65+ | 67.25 | +1.75 for gold CAC sticker; +0.50 plus adjustment |
*Note that CAC graded coins in a details holder are eligible for use in the CAC Registry and will be scored based on their Registry Value (RV) as listed on the item's cert lookup page. But in order to avoid ties between straight-graded and details-graded coins, the details-graded coins will receive a minor reduction in scoring as noted above so that a straight-graded coin will win over a details-graded coin.
**Note that this coin, if successfully crossed to a CAC holder (i.e. a CAC graded coin), would qualify for more points. For instance, a 65 would cross to at least a 66 and would then get the additional 1.00 point for being in a CAC holder, meaning the resulting coin would be worth 67.00 rather than 66.50 in its current state. For clarity, this is not intended to imply any guarantee of any successful crossover; when being graded, each coin is individually evaluated on its own merits and not guaranteed any minimum grade or status based on previous grades or stickers.
We calculate the set's score by multiplying each item's individual score by its weight, adding them all together, and then dividing that number by the sum of each item's weight. Generally, a set will have a maximum score of 70. However, given the application of bonuses discussed in the Item Weighting and Bonuses paragraph, this may not always hold true. Also see the Item Weighting and Bonuses paragraph for a discussion of weighting.
If two sets have the same score, the set that achieved that Set Score first will be ranked higher on the leaderboards.
Bonuses are accounted for by adding to the coin's grade. For example, a CAC graded 65 would yield a score of 66.00 (as noted in the table in Item Scoring above); if that same coin also earned a bonus of +2.00, as described in the Item Weighting and Bonuses paragraph below, the item's individual score would be 68.00.
Items in a given set may be weighted to account for rarity. Items with a higher rarity are assigned a higher weight than more common items. CAC assigns weights as integers from 1 to 10. Generally, weighting is relative and determined using the "parent" item that can satisfy a slot in a set. For instance, the 1955 slot in a Lincoln Cent Wheat Reverse Date set will accept the 1955, 1955-D, 1955-S, and any variety those dates have to offer; CAC bases the weighting for this slot on the 1955, 1955-D, and 1955-S but not the varieties under these non-variety bases.
Below sets forth the applicability of weighting to the types of sets in the CAC Registry:
Set Type | Weighting Applied |
---|---|
Date set | No |
Traditional set | Yes |
Major Variety set | Yes |
Complete Variety set | Yes |
Bonuses may be applied to items with a Set to account for certain characteristics such as color designation on copper coins and strike suffixes like cameo and proof-like. Review a set's composition/definition to determine whether or not bonuses are applied. Whenever bonuses are applied, they will be applied in the amounts listed below.
Characteristic | Bonus |
---|---|
Single highest graded (top pop) CACG or stickered coin | +2.00 |
Tied highest graded (t-top pop) CACG or stickered coin | +1.00 |
PL | +0.50 |
FH, FB, FBL, 5 FS (PCGS or NGC), CAM, RB | +1.00 |
DMPL, DCAM, RD | +2.00 |
6 FS (CACG) | +3.00 |
Each certified coin may only be in use in one participant's registry Sets at a time, but that coin may be used in many of that participant's Sets. To ensure the enjoyment for all our participants, please be sure to remove items from your Collection (and thus your Sets) when you sell or otherwise dispose of them. You may only list coins you own and possess (including in a safe deposit box or as an agent with permission to represent a collection, and during the period while you have consigned for auction but prior to sale). A coin is not considered owned by you if you have sold it to another, regardless of buyback or return policies. There are two methods for doing this:
Delete the item(s) - If you are merely selling a single item or a small number of items but still wish to retain your Set(s) in an ongoing status, you can simply delete the item(s) from your Collection. This will free up the item to be used by another participant.
If you have any difficulties removing your coin, please contact us. We are not responsible if someone else claims ownership of your coin, but if that happens, you may request that they remove the item from their Collection so you can add it to yours.
The CAC Registry is, and will continue to be, constantly changing. We reserve the right to make any change or changes to any Set, Collection, these terms, or any other aspect of the Registry (scoring, points system, weighting, bonus points, etc.) and we may add or subtract features, rankings, accomplishments, medals, milestones, etc. at any time. Not only are new coins being released each year, but we will continue to refine our Sets over time. Ties will be resolved in CAC's sole discretion. Participating in the CAC Registry is every individual user's choice, and CAC Grading, LLC cannot be held responsible for any impact these changes have on our participating collectors.
For example, in the early months of the CAC Registry, we expect to update our weighting, bonuses, and other scoring elements based on further research and feedback from our collectors. However, we are not obligated to incorporate collector feedback.
The CAC Registry is meant solely for the enjoyment of the collecting community, for each participant's personal entertainment only, and not for the participant's commercial or other purposes. Points, leaderboards, rankings, medals, accomplishments, and other milestones have no cash value. And unless explicitly stated, there are no prizes or other benefits for any of them (other than mere "bragging rights").
We ask that participants not take undue advantage of the Registry platform. Participants may manage their Display Name or their Sets and add notes to items in their Collection, but we do not permit the CAC Registry to be used as a platform for selling or marketing items in your Collection. Note that participation in our Registry may make public your ownership and/or possession of your listed coins; properly consider whether to list or register your coins if you do not want your ownership or possession to be known to the public (and note that we are not responsible for any consequences resulting from making such information public). Feel free to contact us if you believe we have made an error, but, while we strive to do our best, we are not responsible for any errors in weighting, bonuses, rankings, etc. CAC personnel may change any details input by participants, and participants are encouraged to report any abuse of the CAC Registry to help@cacgrading.com.
Pricing information is provided by one or more third parties, and we are not responsible for any third party content (including its accuracy), nor is it an offer to buy your coin, nor a guarantee of an ability to sell it for such price.
Participants, viewers, and advertisers shall not use the Registry for commercial purposes, such as to target buyers, or offer coins for sale, except as otherwise expressly permitted and enabled by and through CAC. For example, (i) we may elect to offer coins we select from third party advertisers to participants as suggested enhancements or improvements to your Collection or Sets; or (ii) participants may be able to create a Want List, and we may suggest coins from third party advertisers in response to your Want List.
Happy Collecting!
